How do we foster attunement and connection
—within ourselves and in our relationships?
How do we engage with our clients to create relationships
that foster meaningful growth and change?
Research has pointed to the quality of the coach-client relationship as a critical factor in promoting successful client outcomes. This session will highlight key research findings that reveal the science behind the art of personal connection with our clients. The interdisciplinary sciences of the brain, the mind, and relationships—known as interpersonal neurobiology—provide theoretical evidence in support of what we coaches already know: a safe, intimate, and trusting relationship requires us to form a personal sense of attunement not only with the client, but also with our self.
In this highly-interactive and information-filled session, participants will:
- learn key concepts from the science of personal connection (including functions surrounding the brain, mind, and distributed nervous system);
- practice mindfulness to attune to the self and others; and
- engage in partner exercises to evoke and apply the experience of attunement in coaching.
